Footpath beside drystone wall leading into rolling Derbyshire hills

Slow days out, not coach-trip marathons

Footpaths from the lane, market towns a short drive away, and a few reliable family stops when you want a change of scene.

Local walks

A 4-mile loop crosses two fields and a stile-heavy section with big views. Shorter there-and-back rambles follow the stream—fine for dogs on leads where livestock is absent. Laminated route cards at reception.

Open countryside with drystone walls and distant wooded ridge

Towns & villages

Bakewell for pudding, markets, and river walks.
Buxton for architecture, parks, and swimming at the leisure pool.
Ashbourne if you want independent shops on the way in from the south.

Family days out

Chatsworth estate, Heights of Abraham cable cars, and cycle hire at Parsley Hay if you brought bikes. We keep a cork board at reception with discount leaflets when suppliers send them.

Calm lake with reeds and trees along the bank

Countryside & coast

You are firmly in Peak District fringe countryside here—not the high moor tops, but green valleys and lanes. The coast is a longer day; most guests stay inland and save the drive for another trip.

Fishing & outdoor activities

A local club water offers day tickets in season for coarse fishing—reception has the phone number and rules sheet. For climbing or caving, use a qualified local provider; we do not book those directly.

Turn plans into a booking

Stay on park after a day out—your pitch or unit is waiting without another hotel hop.
